Choir Practice On Tuesday The Choir will meet on Tuesday at 7 pm for practice.

Board Meeting On March 15th March’s Board of Directors meeting will take place on Thursday, March 15th at 7 pm. All Church members are encouraged to attend this meeting due to the discussion of new lighting for the Church.

3rd Sunday Service Join us for our 3rd Sunday Service at 7 pm on Sunday, March 18th.

Pound Cake Donations Needed We need donations of pound cakes to be used in the Pork Steak Dinner. Please have your donations in the Family Legacy Center on Friday, March 23rd.

CWF Easter Baskets For Shut-Ins The CWF is collecting items such as hand lotion, chap stick, candy, etc. for Easter baskets for our 16 Shut-Ins. The CWF members will be putting these baskets together on Sunday, March 25th after Church.

Easter Egg Hunt! There will be an Easter Egg hunt at the Floyd Pond House for our youth ages 12 and under on Wednesday, March 28th beginning at 6 pm. Parents are asked to bring a dozen eggs and a bag of candy.

Pallet Donations Needed We are looking for donations of 4 sized 3x3 pallets to be used as wall décor in the Bowers Center.

Pork Steak Dinners! Our annual Pork Steak dinner will be held on Saturday, March 24th. Dinners are $8 each and can be picked up between 11 am and 2 pm. Please remember that we will need a lot of help with this fundraiser. See Bill or Patricia Bacon to get your tickets.

Recommendation For Social Hall Name The Board of Directors discussed the congregation’s suggestions for our new social hall name at our Board meeting Thursday night. After some discussion, the Board would like to recommend “Family Legacy Center” as the name for our new social hall.

Wednesday Night Youth Group We would like to invite all kids 11 and under to join our youth group that meets on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm in the Bowers Center.

Joseph Hite Memorial

James “Jim” Hite Passes Away The Pembroke Christian Church lost another familiar face this week when James "Jim" Hite passed away at age 79. Mr. Hite and his family attended the Church for several years. He worked for the Pembroke Telephone Company and was the football coach at Bryan County High School. His funeral will be held on Sunday, September 8th, at 3:00 pm in Millen, Georgia at the Millen Baptist Church.

The Church has a cross dedicated to Mr. Hite’s father, Joseph Hite, just above the glass doors at the entrance of the sanctuary, as shown in this picture.

Church parsonage burns On Saturday night on April 9th, 2011, the Church parsonage caught fire and burned. In a bizarre coincidence, I had just found the following news article a few hours earlier that day while researching the Church history in the newspaper archives at the University of Georgia in preparation for the upcoming web site relaunch at the end of the month. This article, from the October 29, 1964 issue of the old Pembroke Journal newspaper, described the dedication ceremony that was held for the parsonage at its opening.
